Caminito del Rey Map
An interactive Caminito del Rey map: the one-way route from the North access to El Chorro, parking and the train station, and how the gorge sits ~1 hour from Málaga — with tours you can book at each.
Two things confuse first-timers about the Caminito del Rey, and both are spatial — so a map is the fastest way to make sense of them. First, the walk is one-way: you enter at the North access (Control Norte) near Ardales and finish ~3 km of boardwalks later at the South exit by El Chorro, where the train station and a shuttle bus back to the start are. You don’t double back, so where you park and how you return matter. Second, it’s not in Málaga — the gorge is about an hour’s drive northwest, which is why most visitors either join a guided tour from the city or drive/train out themselves.
Use the map below to see all of it at a glance: tap From Málaga to frame the city departure point and the guided tours that include transport, or At the Gorge for the route ends, parking, and the El Chorro train station, with the on-site and ticket-only options. Click any pin for details, or ◉ Locate a tour to fly the map to it.

Which should you choose?
Book a guided tour from Málaga if…
From $77 · hotel pickup · ~1 hr each way
- You're based in Málaga or the Costa del Sol and don't have a car.
- You want the transport, timed ticket, and a guide all handled in one day.
- You'd rather not deal with the one-way route, parking, and the shuttle.
Go on your own if…
From $17 · drive or train to El Chorro
- You have a car (or will train to El Chorro) and want your own pace.
- You're happy to manage the North-entrance start, South exit, and shuttle.
- You want the cheapest way in — an entry ticket, with or without a guide.
Most visitors come from Málaga, about an hour's drive northwest. A guided day tour handles the round-trip coach, your timed entry ticket, and a guide on the walkway — the simplest way if you don't have a car. Pins here are city pickups; the walk itself is at the gorge (the green pin).

The Caminito itself is a one-way walk through the Gaitanes Gorge — you start at the North access (Control Norte) near Ardales and finish at the South exit by El Chorro, where the train station and a shuttle back to the north end are. Drive or train here yourself and book an on-site guided tour or an entry ticket only.

Caminito del Rey Map & Logistics FAQ
Getting there, parking, where the walk starts, and how it sits relative to Málaga.
The gorge is about 60 km (roughly an hour's drive) northwest of Málaga, near El Chorro and Ardales. You can drive, take a regional train to El Chorro, or join a guided day tour with round-trip coach transport. See the map above for how the city and the gorge line up, and our getting-there guide for routes and times.
Two ways: a guided tour from Málaga with hotel/coach pickup (the simplest — everything's handled), or the regional train to El Chorro, which leaves you near the south exit. If you train in, use the shuttle bus to reach the north entrance where the walk starts. The car-free crowd mostly books a tour — check availability here.
There are car parks at both ends — one near the North access (Control Norte, the Ardales/Gaitanejo side) and one at the South exit by El Chorro. Because the walk is one-way, many drivers park at the south (El Chorro) end and take the shuttle bus to the northern start, then walk back to the car. The two ends are marked on the map above.
It starts at the North access (Control Norte) near Ardales and finishes at the South exit by El Chorro. It's strictly one-way, so you can't begin from the south. Plan your parking and the return shuttle around that — see both access points on the map.
Málaga, by far — about 1 hour away versus roughly 2.5 hours from Seville. That's why most guided day trips depart from Málaga and the Costa del Sol. If you're coming from Málaga, browse the from-Málaga tours on the map.
Yes. You can buy an entry ticket only and walk it self-guided — it's the cheapest way in (from about $17). A guide adds the history and, on the from-Málaga tours, the transport. Compare all three approaches in our tickets and tour options guide.
Aim to be at your entrance about 30 minutes before your timed slot — and remember there's an access trail of 20–40 minutes before the boardwalks themselves, depending on which end you start from. Guided tours build this buffer in for you; see the access points on the map above.
Plan for about 3 to 4 hours end to end, including the access trails — the boardwalk section is roughly 2.9 km of a ~7.7 km total route. It's one-way and mostly flat, so the time is distance and crowds, not climbing. More detail in our what-to-expect guide.
